Village Oven, West Stockbridge: great pizza!

By chance I found a great restaurant on my way back to Boston after the weekend. The Village Oven in West Stockbridge is conveniently right off the Mass Pike. We had a spinach and ricotta calzone, a chicken panini, and shrimp scampi pizza (a special). Everything was very tasty and well made, but the pizza was especially wonderful. The crust was fresh-tasting, the cheese was very flavorful, and there were quite a few juicy shrimps. I hope to make it back there the next time I go through Western Mass.

They make the pizza, calzones, stromboli, and lots of tasty desserts there. We tried an apricot cheesecake that was not too sweet and had a very tasty tart crust. I'm jealous of anyone who lives in that area - great pizza is always a good find. I believe they are open for lunch, dinner, and take-out.
