I haven't seen a mention of this bakery on this board and if you haven't discovered it, you should! I'm a visitor from Los Angeles who summers in Jamestown. This bakery opened a few years ago and it has greatly enhanced the quality of our lives!
It's an Italian guy and his wife, who both do the baking. They specialize in handmade breads, wood-fired pizza (on Sunday evenings) and incredible pastries and desserts. The breads range from focaccia with various veggie-cheese toppings, to olive loaves, raisin-pecan, epi, semolina ... the list goes on and on. They make various breads on various days. On Sunday between 5 and 7 they make superb thin-crust wood-fired pizza. It's only for take-out and during the summer there is a wait; these days you usually have to wait 10 minutes or so.
The desserts range from rustic tarts and biscotti to tiramisu and the best coconut macaroon I've ever eaten.
The husband-and-wife baking team are always friendly and smiling. It's really worth a trip. Go in the mornings (they're closed Monday and Tuesday) for the best selection. Or check out the pizza tomorrow evening. I'll see you there; it's my last evening on the island before leaving for Los Angeles. I'll miss my favorite bakery!
