Viking Salt - A Chowhound Must

Shoeman | Jun 17, 2002 10:22 PM

Several months ago we started a discussion about viking salt which orginated from an articule in Saveur.
WELL, I finally got my shipment from the Cooking School of Aspen.
VERDICT, it is a must buy. The articule uses the adjective "haunting" which I thought was an strange word to discribe salt, but haunting it is.
The smokiness is incredible. I keep a sample on the kitchen counter in a small open dish and it perfumes the entire first floor of the house. I've used it sparingly on grilled shrimp and salad and it is awesome.
If you touch the salt your fingers smell like your pick up an old log from the fireplace and the smell last for several hand washings.
The cost is $22 for 4 oz. They are out of the 2 oz bottles.
Go get some.

PS. Pat Hammond - Sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this one!
