Vietnamese eel, anyone?

I'm trying to recapture an experience from the distant past...I went to a Vietnamese restaurant in Houston, and had the most incredibly delicious eel dish--I don't remember what it was called, but I believe it was braised eel in a broth of sorts, with lots of fresh cilantro throughout. I was all excited a couple of weeks ago when I saw eel dishes on the Thanh My menu, but alas...the waiter informed me that I couldn't have the eel because "it was frozen and it smelled bad." I had to settle for a baked catfish dish which was okay, but not really what I wanted. Has anyone had a really stellar eel experience anywhere, and if so, will you please tell me about it?
