Vietnam on Doyers St.

We wanted to report on a wonderful meal we had last week at Vietnam on 11 Doyers St. (one block below Pell off Bowery). All the dishes below are very good:

1. Sour Eel soup: citrus and tomato with chunks of eel.

2. Caramel Pork with Black Pepper Sauce: Thin slivers of brown pork served with a sharp black pepper sauce on the side.

3. Curried Duck: chunks of duck in a soupy bowl of delicate curry.

4. Papaya salad with slices of beef: surprisingly sweet, the beef was almost like jerky.

The only dish that was a slight disappointment was the pork and shrimp crepe appetizer. In sum, the meal was full of surprising turns of flavor... a real delight. Highly recommended!
