Victors in Somerville -- meatballs, too!

So I managed to NOT order the legendary chicken parm today and tried the meatball sub instead. And it was so good I had to let you know. A small costs $4.25 with tax and involves 4 big meatballs, sauce and grated cheese. I asked for provolone just to gild the lily and that was a good call. My only complaint about Victors has been they don't salt as agressively as I would like, and the provolone helps.

For those who haven't experienced Victor's yet, picture a very solid family run place with a long counter on one side, tables and chairs on the other, and Victor himself, his wife, his boys, and daughters in law all serving massive portions of Italian American favorites. They always have several specials -- today they had fresh roast beef with mash and veg, stuffed shells, stuffed peppers, chicken cacciatore, escarole soup. At lunchtime, the lines are long. Please note: this is not gourmet food. It is basic family fare. At a good price. Perfect for chowhounds.

Victors is located on Broadway in Ball Square, Somerville. They are only open for lunch, and only during the week.
