Took the family out to try Vic's in Bradley Beach yesterday ( man - we eat out way too much!) I'm not sure if I had my expectations set too high but I was disappointed.
Sure, the pizza arrived burning hot. Ok, the crust was nice and thin and had a pleasant, smoky taste. I have to admit I liked the tomato sauce also.
I guess I was expecting the same kind of feeling I got when I left one of the joints in New Haven, or more recently when I left Scalini Fedeli. It's that transcendant feeling that you have experienced something worth shouting about. It happens with me when I eat wonderful food ranging from a soul food shack in a small town in florida to Willy's Wine bar in Paris and Daniel in NYC.
I left feeling like I had some good pizza and that's all. Honestly, I enjoy my local Frankie Fed's more. I understand taste is subjective, but world class food is world class food.
Next week we go to Pete & Elda's. Wish me luck :o)
