The vice and virtue of Linda's Donuts - Belmont

Bob Dobalina | Aug 10, 2005 08:45 AM

I will admit that I don't indulge often in a doughnut for breakfast, but today I received as a gift a plain glazed donut fresh from Linda's Donuts on Belmont St. in Belmont.

It is inspiring...a donut that is freshly made and apparently handmade - close inspection of the interior shows a tiny spot of yellow, where the yolk was not completely mixed in...I take this as a positive sign.

It's glazed lightly and cooked just right, so that it has a slight crunch when you bite in, yielding a moist, but not greasy cakey interior...

Surprisingly, it does not sit heavy or stick to the mouth like that other donut place - this donut just melts in your mouth...

Upon further inspection, I can even see little dashes of spice in the dough - nutmeg? vanilla bean?
