vernon's new jerk house

finally made it to this place yesterday. really the only complaint i had was the chicken wasn't too hot (temperature wise) and i was eating it there. since i had never had jerk chicken before, i have nothing to compare it too, but i enjoyed it. im not sure if it's supposed to be incredibly hot, but it had a nice kick to it (nothing i couldn't tolerate). i think i liked the sides even better tho - rice and peas, coupla fried plantains (they add a nice sweetness to the chicken and rice) and stewed vegetables (i think anyway). had some fresh carrot juice to go w/ it, it was okay. funny thing was the jamaicans in there kept looking at me i guess to see if i liked the food or whatnot. they were nice guys tho, and one came over to talk, then i invited another guy to come join since he was eating by himself. gotta love how food brings people together. anyway, i'm on a sort of caribbean food quest, and live closer to the bronx than brooklyn. anyone know where i can get some good doubles and roti round town? thanks again. till next time...
