VENICE in the bronx

mrnyc | Jan 21, 2004 06:18 PM

this is the old italian on 149th street west of southern blvd and the bruckner. i've had several lunches from there the last couple weeks. we used to order from there a lot but i havent for a few years.

meatballs w/ linguini are fine, big decently moist meatballs. veal parm sandwich is rather pedestrian but warm, tasty and of course very filling none the less. the scungilli salad is very spicy, garlicy and vinegar-ish, more so than other versions i've had. fresh scungilli and lots of it.

they're open 1000am to 1000pm every day so if you're hungry its not a bad off the highway or after a yankee game option.

fyi--LA ORQUIDIA honduran is just up 149th at brook/3rd avenue. spotty but ok. usually open lunch only.
