Here's the problem: Several friends of mine and I would like to dine out for Thanksgiving dinner, however I am a vegetarian (I don't eat any meat, poultry, fish or seafood but dairy is okay) and we are having trouble finding a fine dining establishment that will accomodate me plus my carnivorous friends. Ordinarily it's not a problem, but on Thanksgiving most fine dining restaurants are only offering a pre-fixed menu with a meat dish as the main entree and no option to order a la carte. Conversely we can't go to a vegetarian place (like the upstairs room at Zen Palatte Union Square, for example) because then my friends would be deprived of eating their turkey. Many restaurants are not even open at all on Thanksgiving.
Where can we go? We want Manhattan but anywhere downtown/midtown/uptown will work. We were looking to spend roughly $50 per person give or take. Any suggestions appreciated and thanks.
