Vegetables that aren't necessary to grow at home?

madeliner | Feb 10, 201509:22 PM     103

I am definitely doing tomatoes from seed, have found a nice pepper seed to try as well as a french filet bush bean, I can't find these varieties locally and figure they are worth my time to plant.

I may also plant some swiss chard, zucchini and 1 cuke plant

otherwise I can't see a reason to grow things like carrots, onions, potatoes, and cabbage-they are inexpensive to buy and will take up precious garden space

Am I missing a flavor payoff if I decide to grow these myself?
