I haven't been here for some time, not because I stopped liking Chowhound, but because my new computer/browser hates it -- the message boards take so long to load on my iBook that I seldom have the patience to deal with them.
Anyway, I was looking over the Tasting Room menu on the Lola website last night, and thinking, "Gee, that doesn't blow me away as much as David's menus usually do" ... and then I got to the bottom and saw that David was no longer there. A little Googling revealed that he is now the head chef at Seventeen Seventeen in the Dallas Museum of Art.
Well, if you'll pardon my French, WTF? Isn't this a lunch-only place? I've never been there and for all I know it may be great, but it seems a very odd career move for a chef as serious and talented as David. I didn't necessarily expect him to stay at Lola forever, but I didn't expect to see him at a museum cafe either.
