Any thoughts about Vandaag's bakery?
I've read such great reports on the restaurant, and stopped in today to pick up a bakery item or two. The polite front of house guy named 3 breads, and told me they cost $7-8. He disappeared into the back for about 5 minutes to get my sour ale rye, then returned and told me it was $9. Then they charged me tax. Tax on bread? Hasn't that caused a revolt or two? I asked for my money back and left. They were nice, but is this place worth it? It didn't help that I had just had a fabulous affordable lunch at Zabb Elee, who seem to have implemented the "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" principles better than this overpriced example of gentrification.
