NY hound making first trip to vancouver/whister. Going to whistler first (5-6 days) with friends and my boyfriend and I are ending the trip in Vancouver for 2 days. I'm not terribly worried about Whistler rec's as we will be with friends and probably cooking more. (but all are encouraged!) However, I'm excited about Vancouver and have been looking into a couple of places on the board and also asked a friend who knew vancouver well about 10 years ago.
Whistler recs provided: The Bears Nest? Someplace where you can saber your champagne in the cellar? Some restaurant on the top of the mountain? (sorry, vague, i know)
Vancouver recs from friend:(could they be outdated?)
Tojo's for sushi
Japanese teagarden (stanley park)
from the board that look good: Aurora, West, Bin 941, Guu. All of these seem to fit. We will be there thursday and friday.
Our tastes vary - love wine bars, tapas, bistros, seafood, inventive cuisine, superb ingredients. West/Aurora Bistro looked like the winners for the B.C experience? Don't need fancy both nights, and not really into steak.
I also love holes-in-the-wall true finds that are worth the journey. Looking to make some reservations for dinner and then have some options for lunch.
I know i'm not there long enough to fit in everything i would hope, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated and I promise to report back on the suggestions!!
