The weekend of May 20 was the beginning of the season for the Richmond Night Market. I've seen many pictures that people have posted of the food choices at this market so I really wanted to check it out. The weather had been threatening all day and in fact rain was scheduled for the better part of the week that we would be in town - but a little rain never stops us! Outfitted with umbrellas and rain coats, off we went! Sure enough, it started raining at about 5:00 - just as we were getting there...
No matter - we munched our way thru the food stalls:
Grilled skewers: Beef, chicken with garlic, spicy chicken with asparagus and bacon skewers
Takoyaki with shrimp, scallop & octopus (such fun watching them make these - pretty good sized crowd waiting for them - popular stall
Korean kim chee pancakes & thick chewy rice noodles in spicy sauce (can't remember name of these but they're almost an inch wide and have a chewy consistency that is rather addicting...)
Taiwanese sausage with hunks of fresh garlic
Taiwanese beef buns with cilantro & jalapeno pepper
Mango coconut sticky rice rolls
Duck pancake wraps - Yum!
Everything is in the $1 - $3 range with a few things higher. All of the vendors were extremely friendly and got a big kick out of us! Clientele is mostly Asian and we are just a couple of Senior Citizen Caucasians who eat everything... Many more things we could have tried but I just got tired of dealing with the constant downpour! We got there really early so parked out on the street (free). Locations is easy to find - near IKEA.
