Vancouver to the Okanagan and back

I have reviewed multiple posts about the trip from Vancouver to Okanagan and back and found little of value, e.g. there is not much hope in Hope, Merritt has slim pickings, etc. Any new news? I arrive at YVR at about 3:30PM. I figure that by the time I clear customs, get the car, etc there is not much sense hoofing it all the way over but I don't want to eat swill either. Thanks, Tom
