I grew up in Richmond but haven't been back to Vancouver area much in the past 15 years or so. Coming back with my 5 and 7 year old for a very quick visit and trying to think of delicious and kid-friendly options. We will be staying near family in White Rock. I'm thinking of a day at Stanley Park, or at least the aquarium. The problem we always have at places like that is that they open mid-morning and the kids get hungry before we are ready to leave, so we often get stuck having lunch at the expensive, not-great restaurants or snack bars on-site. I would like to avoid that, so am looking for ideas for something good to pick up on the drive in from white rock (or would SkyTrain be a better idea?) to bring with us as a picnic, or good options not too far away so we could just bring snacks to tide us over til a late lunch after leaving the park.
Apart from that... I remember Tsunami Sushi on Robson, and was thinking the kids would enjoy the boat thing, but it appears to be long gone. Any other options? We love sushi and would love to take advantage of the cheap, good sushi in Van (compared with Montreal, where we live).
Also might go to Richmond at some point, wondering about the night market and/ or dim sum (preferably on carts). Any suggestions? Is the night market fun for kids?
