Vancouver -Need help

Ok, I now know Stephos is out... I heard it was a great value for the money-but I guess it was short on taste.(my do so many people rave about it?) Too bad.

I will be in Vancouver for 12 nights. (by myself) I don't want to break the bank on this trip ( a few splurges are ok - What do you think about the Observatory at Grouse Mountain?) but I am not going to travel all the way to Vancouver so I can eat fast food either! (In case you are wondering, I am from Atlanta)

What should I do. I LOVE seafood (especially oysters and mussels) but all the places I've read about seem quite pricey. (Do people really pay $3 per oyster? Maybe I am showing my ignorence. Probably not a good thing to do on this board!) I guess Dim Sum is out because I will be by myself (and I don't think you dine alone at that type of meal)

Please give me some suggestions. I love all types of food.(and am excited about all the different ethnic groups in Vancouver)-but I just don't know where to go. (and if you could also tell me the best place to buy chocolates to bring back home for my mom I would really appreciate it!)

Thanks in advance!!
