There seemed to be so much promise with a huge smoker in front.

J & M serves pork ribs, chicken, links and brisket. Sides include baked beans, string beans, potato salad, candied yams, cole slaw and macaroni salad.

There’s a lunch special Monday – Friday: choice of meat (excluding brisket) and one side $4.95 $5.95.

Here's what I had rated from A+ to F -

http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/737141

C + (slightly above average) REGULAR BBQ SAUCE

C (average) BAKED BEANS

D + (below average) RIBS

D – (bordering on inedible) WHITE BREAD

Service: D + … Below average

Ambiance: C ... Average

Price: $$ (lunch special is inexpensive, regular prices are more)

I ordered the ribs with the bbq sauce on the side. There is a choice of hot sauce and not so hot sauce. Actually everything here was not so hot.

These ribs seriously needed the sauce. On their own all they tasted of was salt. There was zero smoke flavor. To make it worse, it wasn’t very good quality pork. The medium sauce was good with coffee notes.

The beans had zero smoke flavor or any distinct flavor at all. They weren’t bad or good .. just there. There was a choice of two slices of dry, cheap bread – white or wheat.I had the white.

I was going to wait and maybe give the brisket a try … then I checked Yelp. The consensus there was the same as my experience … meh, at best.

It seemed to have started strong and then did an almost immediate down hill.

And while I don’t like yelping about service, yeah, I gotta agree it is dismal.

The cook and someone else were screaming at each other … as in, when I pulled up with my car windows closed I could year the yelling in the car. They continued to argue … loudly … and the apathetic woman who took my order had to tell them three times to cut it out because she could not hear me. Really.

With the hack, hack, hack of the ribs, it was quite the ambiance.

There are a card tables with a few metal chairs inside and a rickety table in the parking lot. This was the former location of D’s BBQ. That wasn’t stellar but compared to this it was rib heaven.
