We're staying in this year and I am going to try to recreate the first valentine's day meal I served my husband, which he still claims is the best dinner he's ever had (even after a meal at French Laundry!):
The main course is flank of rabbit stuffed with a mixture of cornmeal, rosemary and roasted garlic, and served with a rabbit stock reduction. I hope I can remember how to fabricate a rabbit, something I haven't done since culinary school!
We'll serve it on a bed of polenta, with some sort of green. I did brussels sprouts when I first made it, but I am thinking perhaps sauteed spinach instead. Or green beans with slivered almonds.
And as a starter I'm going to attempt Anna Klinger's Beet Ravioli with butter poppyseed sauce (she shared the recipe on Mark Bittman's show not too long ago and it's my favorite dish at her restaurant, Al Di La in Brooklyn).
Not sure about dessert...probably some sort of chocolate something, although the recent Raspberry Crostada recipe that Fun with Food (?) shared is definitely making me think twice.
