VAIL, CO: Swiss Hot Dogs

Tedster | Jul 17, 200001:19 PM     1

Now that it's the summer travel season, just thought i'd toss out an old favorite of mine. Vail, and the entire resort area of the Rockies, has lots of great food. But a favorite for a quick lunch is Swiss Hot Dogs in Vail, CO. It's at the west of town around the corner from the gondola (easiest reference point).

Now the serious part. These things are two very lean veal brats grilled and served on a fresh, split baguette and garnished with chooped sweet green onions, sprouts, hot mustard and a curry seasoning. It's really about the only menu item other than ice cream, chips, pop and juice and you can get the dog in a single, double or triple size. Go right for hte double.

All the locals will now what you've had for lunch cause you're gonna reek, but I swear that these are soo good it's worth it. Ernst, the owner, is a character as well.

I've lived in the Mountain region for over a decade and would be glad to pass along (and especially get) itps from anyone else.
Enjoy, Tedster
