Vacuum seal machines, a bit lost

tinpanalley | May 15, 201605:47 PM

It doesn't seem as easy to determine quality brands in this range of products as with others partly because, as far as I can tell, there aren't so many review written. Also, there is the typical food related appliance issue that the brands really trusted by food professionals or experts aren't always the brands most readily available or even known to most people.
So, wanting to spend less than 100€, what kind of vacuum sealer should I look at? Foodsaver comes up a lot but then I see people saying only some of them are any good and that others are better for the same (or less) money.

I'm currently looking at this Foodsaver, but it's not currently in stock and I'm trying to find alternatives. I think having a tube for cannisters is definitely something I'll want and this one does that but doesn't do manual pulse: https://www.amazon.fr/Saver-V1020-I-A...

Questions...
- Can ANY vacuum sealer use any brand's bags?
- Is Foodsaver the only of these devices worth getting?
- Can I really get an old Italian flaem nuova from years ago on ebay and confidently use it today?

Thanks!
