ushi wakamaru revisited

been meaning to post for the last two weeks - hadn't read any really recent posts and thought a reminder was in order. it's awfully good. pretty excellent sushi, the chef thankfully has a delicate hand with the cut, the fish is extremely fresh, interesting choices.....great uni, amberjack, aji. very, very tasty seaweed salad, nice raw octopus with sea salt, and all for a more affordable price than the great midtown places. it's not that it's really cheap but....there were three of us and we did have a bit of saki, the whole thing came to about 60pp..... the chefs are kinda fun and the clientele almost always all japanese whenever i've been here. and there is a sweet little private room opposite the sushi bar with one long table that could seat up to maybe ten people. it's on houston between sullivan and macdougal. and really not to be missed.
