I went to Ushi for the second time last week and had another great experience. The staff remembered me, so that was a nice way to start things off. Like the first time, the service was very friendly and they were very appreciative to have non-japanese clientel who were there for fine sushi. And, like the first time, the food was exquisite.
I had the 15 piece "chefs special." I spoke to one of the chefs about just having a regular omakase but he urged the special. He said that we would get the best they had to offer with either option but with the omakase we would be charged the full al a carte price for each piece. The "special," however, represented a discount. I think it was $48 for the 15 piece deal.
Highlights included an unbelievable, melty piece of otoro, white shrimp, crab, and japanese red snapper with sea salt.
