so my friends and i found an amazing deal on orbitz for nassau this weekend ($146!) and we're off! we will be reliving my college trip by staying in the same hotel, ocean spray on west bay street across from lighthouse beach. not glamorous, but cheap, and the beach is totally deserted.
the point of this post is, we want to keep our meals on the cheap side but as delicious as possible--i want lots of seafood and tropical fruit. searching past posts turned up recs for street food, which sounds great to me. as someone who saw varying qualities of asian street food growing up, i do have to ask...it's all safe to eat, right?
does anyone know how far we would have to walk to get to potters cay, (the area by the bridge with all the conch) and to arawak cay, the fish fry area? the hotel is a short walk from the straw market, then another few minutes to that large best western. if the two cays are not in walking distance, does the bus go there? also, is the fish fry area just stalls like in the conch area, or is it various restaurants? any suggestions on a good one to try? any other ideas would be great...local style, nothing fancy.
also, if anyone can give prices/info on taking the ferry out to the stingray park or other similar excursions, that would be great--when i went snorkeling in college it was included in our vacation package so i don't know how to arrange it.
thanks for any help!
