UPTOWN - Tchoup & Magazine Street here we come!

karendor | Feb 27, 201503:48 PM

Got all excited about calling our new ‘hood WEST RIVERSIDE, but according to wiki: “This name was only artificially created by the City Planning Commission and most residents do not identify with it.” Yes, our new ‘hood!

Great news. We just, and I mean just, closed on a the purchase of sweet 3-bedroom home near Tchoup & Magazine. Long-term investment in family and in NOLA, and thanks for support and inspiration from my New Orleans Board Chowfriends…you know who you are!

Your amazing city, and all the ‘chowlove’ drew me in, and as smart & selfish parent/investors, hubby and I have “carved out” our own special guest room for our frequent -- and now longer in duration -- NOLA jaunts.

Here are my picks thus far, all easy walking distance:

-La Boulangerie - I am in love with this place and plan to get fat there.
-Casamento’s - My two experiences were wonderful. Ready for more.
-Pizza Domenica - We already like their happy hour downtown so hope this lives up to the standards. Happy Hour ends at 5, seems a tad early.
-Dick & Jenny’s - liked it the first time, only had small plates. Will be interested to see what the front/bar room looks like. Wish they did brunch.
-45Tchoup - we hear very good things. Tipitina’s bar - ditto!
-New York Pizza & Bronx Bar - decent, hot slice of pizza for $4 bucks & I kinda liked the bar. Good for a quick lunch break.
-Hansen’s Sno Bliz - so excited.

Other hot spots?
-Apolline ?
-Guys Po Boys?

We have been to Lilette, Bouligny Tavern, and La Petite Grocery -- and I am sure we will try them again. I was not impressed with LPG but it was lunch and we may have caught them at a bad time. Wont’ take too much arm-twisting for me to try it again.

Would love your advice - I don’t care what we call the neighborhood. Any other new spots around town we should try? Balise on Carondelet looks interesting.

Hansen's Sno-Bliz,
Bouligny Tavern,
La Petite Grocery,
New York Pizza,
