Update on Old Mexico Grill (Santa Fe)

Bob S II | Feb 11, 2003 10:28 AM

From the Santa Fe New Mexican (today) for those who have previously expressed positive things about The Old Mexico Grill on Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe:

Restaurant which closed after the Christmas Holidays ostensibly for remodeling after sale to new owners may be closed longer than expected (previously thought to be three months).

Meantime, chef and sous chef have opened a 32-seat place adjacent to the hotel Inn On The Alameda (in town at the intersection of Alameda and Paseo de Peralta) called Mucho Gusto.

They have taken popular dishes that they "created" with them such as the Stuffed Chicken Breast in Chipolte Cream Sauce (usually a Friday special that would sell out long before dinner service was over; providing a good reason to get a "buzz" on at lunch rather than wait for dinner).

Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Have not been yet but will post a report soon.

Am most curious how they are addressing beverages as I'm of the opinion that margaritas and/or beer are essential to the success of this sort of place.
