Hubby and I were having a busy day, no time to cook, so that meant a walk to Lotus Garden was in order. Sure enough, the crab tank I had mentioned a while ago is up and running, and though there were only a few crabs in the tank, they were quite active and looked good...
so, of course, even though it was late June, we had to try one. Fairly pricey, but that will change once the season comes around again.
Had it in the Lotus Garden style, and have to say, it was, despite the calendar, one of the better crabs I had this year. Of course, the fact that I was eating it at my favorite neighborhood spot could have influenced me just a bit....but Seriously though, good crab. Better than good. and of course the rest of the meal was great also.
BTW, not sure if I have mentioned it, but the garlic noodles there have gone uphill in the new reincarnation. I used to find them bland, and stopped ordering them after I got a batch with raw garlic, but I've tried them twice now since the move to the new location, and they've been very nicely done both times. Perfect with the crab.
But hounds, on Wednesday night the place was practically empty. It drives me crazy that this spot doesn't get more business when, IMO, the food is far superior to the other SE Asian options in the neighborhood. and yes, I include Anghor Borei in that group.
The crab tank probably won't have clawed occupants much longer (until next year, of course) but Lotus Garden still deserves a visit. Mission at Valencia.
