I'm planning a week-long sojourn at the end of March. A year ago, when I last visited, I was craving great Mexican food, but ended up finding only mediocre, cheapo food near my parents' home in Hayward. I'm willing to range beyond the east bay if needed. I don't care whether it's a dive or an expensive place--I'm hoping for el sabor autentico, preferably with homemade tortillas made with fresh masa and wonderful salsas. Also, anybody know of a source for really good mole paste? I'm looking for something like the Oaxacan mole negro paste I bought in a plastic baggie at Guelaguetza in W.L.A. two years ago.
Any other not-to-be-missed recommendations for a right coast 'hound?
