unusual food in OC?

What are the most unusual things you've eaten in the Orange County area?

A couple of friends and I want to embark on a little culinary adventure on Sunday. We're going to eat lunch and dinner out and then have coctails somewhere. The plan is to eat things that we've never eaten before, perhaps things we never thought we'd eat. Of course, we'd like them to be *good* as well as unusual, and to top it off, while we're willing to spend a little money, we're not made of it -- so I thought this would be the perfect mission for fellow chowhounders.

Here are some thoughts:

- We definitely want to spend some time in GG/Westminster area. Random possibilities:
- sea cucumber
- giant clam (too expensive?)
- jellyfish

What are the best places to find these? What preparations should we ask for? What other unusual items should we consider?

- We don't want to limit our search for unusual foods to those found in the sea. What other suggestions do you have?

- Although part of the quest is to find unusual food items we've never had, that's not necessarily the whole point. We also wouldn't mind trying some unusual cuisines or approaches to preparation. We'd like to taste something and think "wow -- I've never had anything like that before". Where are we most likely to find this in Orange County?

Thanks for your help -- I *know* you'll come up with some great suggestions.
