I'm new to canning, but I got a recipe from my Bulgarian friend for some pickled vegetables that are popular in Bulgaria. I used some old marinara sauce jars to can some of them a week or so ago, and I'm starting to wonder if they sealed properly. When I processed them, the lids didn't ping, probably because they aren't two piece lids. I pressed on them to see if they sealed, and they popped down, but they didn't pop back up and seemed like they sealed. So I'm wondering if anyone has experience with canning with recycled jars, and if the jars should be sealed since they didn't pop back up??
