Universal Cafe Brunch Report

caliston | Oct 6, 200406:40 PM     2

BF and I wanted to go out for brunch on Sunday, debated between Mabel's Just for You and Slow Club, decided on Slow Club.

We managed to take a wrong turn (in our own neighborhood!) and went by Universal Cafe. There was a parking spot outside, it was a nice day, and there was a sidewalk table free. We decided with those omens that we should try Universal Cafe for brunch.

So glad we did. I had french toast with fruit compote and a rich whipped cream. BF had poached eggs on frisse and procuitto with a fresh herb sauce. Yum!

Good coffee, constantly refilled. Fine service. Really fresh ingredients. All the food at other tables looked good too, especially the granola.

I really like Slow Club, but for the same price ($30 with tip for 2), Universal Cafe's brunch is better.
