Haven't heard any chatter about the local-based hotel where we ate last night. Fresh off the beach, not looking for fancy, but trying to find a half decent dinner that wasn't deep fried. We did okay when we went to the Ocean Bluff Inn at the end of Short Sands Beach. Got a table at the window with a view towards the beach, had one of their house specialties of haddock and large scallops baked parchment-style in a paper bag with onion, lemon, butter... lean and flavorful. The side order was asparagas, a bit overcooked, but oh well it wasn't cole slaw. Also had mashed garlic potatoes that were very good (baked, fries, rice, cole slaw, or extra veggie were offered as other options that came with our dinners).
My wine cooler was fine, but my sister's tequila sunrise was toxic with tequila -- the very fine server brought a fresh glass of non-alcoholic sunrise to lighten it, and took the charge for the drink off the bill without being asked.
They have a dining room as well, but liked the vibe of the tavern better.
Went over to Goldenrod Salt Water taffy shop after, enjoyed watching the taffy making in the window and picked up a box of taffies to take home, and another for us to savor for dessert. I hear that they offer very decent light meals there, luncheon fare, but haven't had the opportunity to try.
