My dad and I went to Uncle Frank's yesterday on the way down to Sharks game, and we were both fairly underwhelmed. I really did want to like this place, I really, really did. The brisket, while moist and tender, didn't really have any smoke flavor (or any flavor, for that matter) to it at all. Just a bland piece of tender, moist meat. The ribs also lacked flavor, and were not cooked to the right tooth-resistance level (at least in my book). The links were okay, but nothing like the links that Flint's used make. We did get the sauce on the side, and dipped the meats in, but it (the sauce) couldn't cover the blandness. The sides, as have been noted by others, are nothing special.
Disappointing, yes, but maybe I caught it on a bad day? I definitely wouldn't drive down for it again when there are much better places that are closer to the North bay.
