Underwhelmed By Lumiere

Hit Lumiere last week for a business dinner with a friend. Did it for geographical reasons.

Everything was fine. Nothing was fabulous. We sat not in the nice cushy booths but in some wooden tables along the back. They really need to warm up that part of the restaurant. Felt like we were eating in a diner whereas the other part of the resto is much nicer.

The food was fine, but not at all notable. I had the grass fed, dry aged rib eye special which at $44 was a total bore. Smallish. No real dry age flavor. The accompaniments were not noteworthy. My DC had swordfish which was fine, but also nothing out of the ordinary.

The mesclun salad at $12 was laughable. Seriously mesclun out of a bag, nothing else, for $12. Wow. I was actually stunned at how lame the salad was at that price point.

The whole place feels like some resto from 10-15 years ago. Nothing really innovative going on. Standard executions of "French" fair. One dessert an apple sorbet just tasted like frozen apple sauce, the chocolate dessert was excellent.

Find for the semi-burbs but I'd rather head into town than hit this place again.
