Underground Coffee and Café, Cloverdale

The café in the Antiques and Uniques building changed hands last fall. It’s now Underground Coffee and Café with longer hours including Sundays. The menu is pretty much the same with coffee drinks, soups, salads, sandwiches, and housebaked cookies and breakfast pastries.

Yesterday I stopped in for lunch to try it out. A half sandwich ($3.75), blueberry muffin and a cap set me back $7.25 and some change in the tip jar. The Pesto Veggie sandwich made on a half Dutch crunch roll was just the right amount, filled with pesto cream cheese, Jimtown Store’s deliciously piquant olive spread, and crisp alfalfa sprouts. The moist muffin with a sugar-dipped crunchy top was very good with lots of real blueberries. Next time I’ll stick with brewed Thanksgiving brand coffee, as the foam on my cappuccino was too foamy and airy.
