After heating up and devouring the leftovers of what I think is possibly the best Eggplant Parmigian in the city, I'd figure I'd divulge its creator:
Uncle Joe's Pizza on Balboa around 8th or so. Tiny little place that I think used to be a Hawaiian pizza shop and the chef/owners just opened a few months back.
Anyways, back to the EP. I think it's so good due to how thin he slices the eggplant, but no matter what it is, it's great. Tried a couple of other things on their menu: Lasagna (tried and it's good), good Garlic Bread, great meatballs, very good Caesar (if you like a creamier dressing), a good Pizza Margherita (although we ordered ours cooked a little crisper), and a great tiramisu (if it's available - been there a couple of times when it wasn't ready). Very East Coast family style place.
Other things on their menu that we haven't tried: Canneloni, different sandwiches (Meatball, Sausage etc), Cannoli for desserts, Antipasta salad. Small menu but great place with great prices - Eggplant Parm is $7.95.
I dont know about their lunch hours, but I believe they're open every night for dinner, plus they have delivery! Dont expect more than a few small tables and chairs in a small seating area because that's all your getting, but the food more than for it.
