Uncle Frank's in Mountain View pre-opening food

yimster | Aug 10, 200501:32 AM

Today, I was lucky to hit Uncle Franks before he "opens" completely.

He is serving a limited menu but it was really good.

Three hounds, (with ChowFun and RWCFoodie) arrive about noon and were the first to arrive and found Uncle Frank's in the back of a bar located at 2135 Old Middlefield Way Mountain View.

I was set to be disappointed since I did not smell smoke and it looked empty and the tables were being work on.

But we found Uncle Frank friendly and his staff to helpful and also friendly. With that say they will need to work out a few things when everything is finish.

As were reading the limited menu Uncle Frank give us a sample plate. Some sample it was like a half order of BBQ, it had links, chicken, ribs adn brisket with a mild sauce. They only had potato salad and BBQ corn. Take the corn, great somokey favor and sweet. I am not a potato salad fan so who am I to say.

We order half orders of chicken, ribs and brisket. Everyhting was moist and full of smoke flavor. We could not finish everything and had a little of each to take home for each of us.

They did not have drinks so we had to get something from the bar.

Half orders were all under 10.00 and there was a lot of food.

I spoke to one of the cooks and he said they will have more sides and drinks within thirty days. But are open for both lunch and dinner now, so do not believe the telephone message about not being open.

But while we were eating the place filled up, all this without anything but word of month.

I recommend if you want good BBQ then I recommend you go before it is "discovered".
