As title says, what would you consider to be the best Rondeau ?
A Rondeau for me is a versatile sauté pan like pan with 2 short handles, that can work just as well in the oven as on the stovetop.
I use my Rondeau’s for everything from braising short ribs and other tough pieces of meat to braising vegetables to sautéing vegetables and searing larger cuts of meat and also for smaller stews. So a rondeau to me is as versatile a cooking vessel as a sauté pan and a frying pan, if not even more versatile.
I’m looking to get the best possible cooking gear, as my budget and means allow me to.
I don’t consider myself as skilled as a good chef yet, but I’m working on it.
In order to perfect and improve my skills I have found, that owning the best performing possible cooking gear can help me a lot. And it’s also darn joyful to just own the best gear there is out there for any recipe one could think of.
I currently own the Mauviel M250c Rondeau and the Mauviel M250c sauter pan as well as the Staub Chistera 28 cm ECI Rondeau/Braiser.
I consider adding the Fissler Profi Round Roaster in 28 cm 4,7 liter to my rondeau collection soon.
What would you Fissler and Mauviel copper fans say the Fissler Profi Round Roaster ‘Rondeau’ 28 cm would give me performance wise over my Mauviel M250c 28 cm Rondeau ?
As a side note I’m also soon adding the Fissler Profi Casserole 28 cm 7,2 liter to my collection, but that’s not a real Rondeau in my view, it’s more of a stew pot with the higher walls. A Rondeau has quite short walls, sort of like a sauté pan or just slightly higher walls.
Finally let me hear what Rondeau’s you own and what you consider to be the best performing Rondeaus?
