Ukrainian Food Find

twodales | Jan 20, 200505:19 PM

Today had a meal at the Magic Jug. It is located on Irving just east of Narragansett. I believe it is Ukrainian. Cute little place with 8 tables. It surprisingly felt very Scandinavian to me as there is a lot of wood and fresh herbs/flowers on the tables. We had 2 kinds of "dumplings", one of which was smaller and served with sour cream. We also had delicious borscht. Even the rye and white breads were good. We also had stuffed cabbage and a braised meat plate with mound of potato (which I left). This dish wasalso served with a beet salad and a cabbage salad too, which were tasty. Next time I want to try one of the dessert dumplings. If you are fond of this type of food I recommend you try it. It was like home cooking but without the stodge.
