Though it's vegetarian and I'm an avid carnivore this place never lets me down.
Okay - so it's basically a strip mall pizzeria that's been converted into a curry shop. It isn't pretty and the service is in the rough but it's cheap. The guys at the counter are invariably friendly and the food is always well spiced, delicious and interesting. No foodie we've brought there has left disappointed.
Basically this is southern Indian fast food; a few kinds of dosai (large crepes) stuffed with a your choice of about a half-dozen fillings (potato, cauliflower, lentil, etc. Uttapam is another mainstay - basically it's a pancake with the stuff cooked in it. They also offer a number of curries; palak paneer, matar paneer, etc.
Although this is not the northern indian choices you're used to seeing on the menu though there are certainly plent of familiar items on the menu.
Yummy samosas, lentil donuts, aloo paratha, lots of interesting sauces to dip stuff into. Anything they fry is cooked perfectly - it's impressive how ungreasy their fried foods are.
Have some Ras Malai for desert - great stuff.
If you ate like a starving hound you might be able to spend $15/pp.
