UC Santa Cruz Organic Farmstand (Bay and High streets)

The farmstand on campus has closed for the season, but I wanted to post a marker as a reminder to keep an eye out for when it restarts in June (Tuesdays and Fridays, 12-6pm). I was lucky to have a chance to visit on the last day, the Friday before Halloween, to check it out. The staff and student interns of the Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems raise the produce and flowers at the organic farm and garden on the UCSC campus.

Quantities available seemed to be small but with great variety even at this time of year. The very fresh, well-manicured and perky produce sold at prices comparable to local farmers market. I bought a basket of French shallots and feijoa (pineapple guava). Another interesting offering was the Makrut lime leaves (essential for Thai cooking) for sale.
