i must strongly disagree about ubol's going downhill. if it did go downhill, then it has indeed picked itself back up again. i started going there regularly two years ago, and i think that its fabulous. the jungle curry, crab meatballs, and the whole roasted fish with tamarind and chiles are incredible. my favorite dish is the thai spinach with black beans, served sizzling on a cast-iron platter, with clouds of piquant smoke rising up in my face.
it makes the long trek from brooklyn to queens worthwhile in my book!
