Tycoon Thai -- New Thai/Lao option in the Tenderloin [San Francisco]

After lunch at Azalina's yesterday, I wandered by Tycoon Thai, the new Thai/Lao restarant in the space that used to be Pop-up Cafe and picked up a menu. It's a very basic rec-room decor place, with a charming hand-drawn mural on the wall. THough nominally Tai, there are enough Lao specialties on the menu to evoke my curiosity, including rice ball salad, Kao Piak, Som Tum Lao and Pad See Lao. Of the Som Tum Lao, the menu says "Caution: this version is very hot, fishy, not sweet" and I say "Bring it on!"

The Thai menu looks interesting, too, and includes Sai Ua. They are open late, too, until 10:00 on weeknights andmidnight on Friday and Saturday.
