Twist: New restaurant in downtown Oakland

jenniferfishwilson | May 3, 2002 01:03 AM

Tried a 3 week old restaurant today for lunch. Twist is between the Marriott and Swan's @ 495 10th Street and Washington. Finally! A restaurant I can take clients to. (Verbena is a good choice but the service is vvveeerrryyy ssslllooowww.) They serve lunch and dinner and are open any day but Sunday. I had a grilled shrimp and avacado salad--butter lettuce, endive, grapefruit--light, perfect balance. Stole some of my brother's angel hair pasta with huge grilled scallops--yum! Most lunch entrees are salads, pastas, 3 sandwiches (roasted bell pepper, grilled chicken, prosciutto/basil/tomato.) Dinner entrees add risotto, beef short ribs, NY strip, ahi, trout, seafood stew. Prices are reasonable; service attentive. (Also have banquet rooms available for 10-100). And they've done a total renovation of the connecting Washington Hotel. Phone: 510-832-7449.
