Twining’s Earl Grey Loose Leaf Tea

walker | May 15, 202105:18 PM 4
Earl Grey Tea Food Preferences Amazon

I make a pot of tea nearly every day, steep the leave for 4 minutes. I used to buy the tins from Cost Plus World Market but have been buying 6 big cans at a time from Amazon, better price, convenient.

I opened a can from my last order and the tea looked very different, very fine with a lot of debris falling through my glass filter. Before, the tea looked like little strings.

I called the distributor in New Jersey; customer service mailed me a new can and it looks about the same as the can just opened. I had a can from a previous order; I opened that one and the tea definitely looks better.

Some reviews on Amazon for this tea have the same complaint. What do I do? Change brands?

      Thanks

The quality has definitely changed. From reading reviews on Amazon, some people think what they sell to USA market is inferior to what is sold in England.

Do you have a proper tea shop near where you live? Ever since I have had fresh loose leaf tea, sold by the gram, and from a specialised tea shop, I can’t/won’t go back to supermarket tea. It’s so much fun and rewarding trying out different teas from China and India. I always thought I never liked black tea until I had actual good ones.

My current favourites are milky oolong, lapsang souchong, chung hao jasmin, dragon noir formosa, and a darjeeling from Sikkim.
