Missing my summers spent growing up on the East Coast....Nova Scotia and Boston.
I always reminisce about the 'twin lobster' dinner that all the restaurants run during the summer. From the Asian preparation in Chinatown, the fra diavlo in the North End to the traditional boiled dinner on the shore...I have found the next best thing @ Eddies House in Scottsdale for a price that wont break the bank.
Thanks to a 'Tweet' I reveived from Rubee......saying that Eddie was running this special for a 2nd week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday...I knew to rally the troops. I called my Mother (Boston born and raised) and we headed to Eddies.
We started @ the bar for the 1/2 priced (happy hour) charred Calamari served w/ a spicy tomato coulis and 2 dry martinis straight up. Perfect way to whet the palate before the New England Boiled Dinner! The calamari was tender w/ a nice smokiness from the char. The sauce was spicy and sweet. It paired nicely w/ the dryness of the martini.
We moved to the patio since it was such a beautiful evening (80's) to enjoy the rest of our meal. We decided to go w/ the 2 lobsters each, for $29.99. (also available 1 lobster $19.99)
served w/ corn and potatoes) While we were waiting we received a basket of flat bread and warm sourdough. The lobsters came and were cooked to perfection, meaty and sweet.
I enjoyed a Shock Top Beer w/ my dinner as Eddie was running it on special for $3.
The evening was a success!
The restaurant was packed w/ diners all enjoying the special of the evening!
I hope Eddies continues to run this all summer. We will definitely return!
