Twin Cities Report

On a recent visit we tried a few different places. Here's my report:

1. St. Paul Grille. Nice-looking room, beautiful view and good service, but we found the food very ordinary. I've heard the Sunday brunch is excellent. We were there for Thanksgiving dinner. I'd give it another try because maybe the uninteresting fare was geared to families who don't eat out very often.

2. Auriga. We have heard raves about this place for several months. Very disappointing. The menu sounded creative, but the food was just so-so and the portions were quite small for the price. The service was indifferent - almost rude. We would never go back.

3. Table of Contents (St. Paul). Had a very nice lunch in this eclectic little cafe. It was their last day in this location. They are moving down the street to a brand new, larger space and changing the name to something like The Big Fish. They said they would be adding to their menu and would be more similar to their Minneapolis location. We look forward to trying the new place.

4. The Big Bowl. This was a big hit! Asian noodle restaurant in Edina on France Avenue in a strip mall. Everything was really fresh and very tasty. We loved the ginger beef with big, fat noodles and the Thai Chicken Curry. There are also several Big Bowl's in Illinois, so last weekend we took a drive (from Milwaukee) and went there for lunch. Once again, we loved it. And the prices are VERY reasonable. I don't think anything was over $10.00.
