What is it with TVs in restaurants? I understand that a sports bar would want to have the game on, but it seems like many of the inexpensive places I go to eat in anymore will have a TV going as if people come to a Chinese or Mexican restaurant to watch the tube. Unlike a radio playing, which can provide background music, all a TV does for me is provide background noise, even when it is showing something in a language I understand. Is this a national phenomenon? Why do you think the restaurants do this? Does it help their business in some way? Do some folks like these TVs playing? Have you seen people watching them?
